Beginning January 1, 2007, Waste Management will no longer provide garbage service to the City of Modesto.  Their service area will be absorbed by Gilton Solid Waste and Bertolotti Disposal Service.  Click here to see the new service area map.  

Operational hours will remain the same. Service days will change in some areas; customers will be notified in advance.  Customers will use the same garbage cans.  All accounts billed directly by Waste Management will automatically roll over to the new service provider.

Gilton Solid Waste uses a "one-pass" truck system, meaning the same truck picks up the garbage can and the yard waste can.  The truck is divided internally to keep the materials separate.  Like Waste Management, Bertolotti Disposal Service uses one truck for the garbage can and one for the yard waste can.

Each company has an exclusive service area as deemed by Modesto City Council, thus your garbage company is determined by which street you live on.  

Please call the appropriate company to make appointments for the Bulky Item Program, Used Oil Program, Tire Amnesty Program, or the CRT Program or for general questions about your garbage service.  

Garbage collection hours are from 6AM to 6PM in residential areas.

Garbage companies take only 4 holidays per year: New Years Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day
and Christmas Day.  These holidays may cause your garbage service to be delayed by one day
during the appropriate week.
