The mission of the Modesto Fire Department is to provide efficient and effective fire and life safety protection to the community through control of hostile fire, fire prevention services, emergency medical services, emergency preparedness, and mitigation of hazardous materials incidents.

This commitment is intended to safeguard the general economy and welfare of Modesto, and is provided through the availability of personnel and equipment 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The department currently staffs 11 fire stations which are strategically located throughout the city.
