Modesto is home to the largest
garden club in California, with over 700 members helping to make
Modesto a more beautiful place to live.
There
are over 20 public art displays in Modesto with 14 of them
located in the downtown area.
In
2002, Modesto received the international 'Enhancement of the
Landscape' award for its flower clock, located downtown.
The
City maintains thousands of trees, in fact, it is estimated that
there is one tree for every two people in Modesto and that's not
including all the privately maintained trees.

Junior College was the first Junior College in California.
The
Modesto arch, located at 9th and I Street, was built in 1912.
