Districting Commission Seeks to Adopt Official Draft
Plan for Modesto’s Future
The Modesto Citizens’ Districting Commission has held five meetings to receive input from the Modesto community on how election districts should be determined. Through the meetings and the Commissions website,
www.DrawModesto.org, 27 different map suggestions have been submitted.
As discussed at the July 8 meeting, the Commission seeks to adopt an official draft
plan (or plans). All maps submitted remain under consideration by the Commission. At its July 8 meeting, the Commission
began focusing discussions on four draft plans which can be viewed
here.
The Commission will hold
at least four additional meetings to receive public input on the
proposed districting draft maps, including the four maps in focus, and it encourages anyone interested to attend. Everyone is invited to share thoughts and opinions on any plans or options, especially views of the four plans reviewed at the July 8 meeting.
The Commission will continue to consider any draft maps that are
submitted up until the time they select an official draft districting
plan or plans. The next meeting will be held as follows: Tuesday, July 15 5:30 p.m. Tenth Street Place, 1010 Tenth Street, room 2001 on the second floor
At
Tuesday's meeting, the Commission plans to develop an official draft
districting plan or plans based on the input received. This draft plan
(or plans) will then be made available for viewing online and will be
the subject of discussions at meetings in September. Specific dates, times and locations for the September meetings will be announced at a later date.
