Saturday of Service to Celebrate Women's Month

The City of Modesto Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods Department's King-Kennedy Memorial Center has partnered with Soroptimist International of Modesto and Soroptimist International of Modesto North to present a “Saturday of Service” event that will focus on women and women’s issues.

A Celebration of Women, "Builders of Communities and Dreams," will be the focus of the event Saturday,  March 4, 2006, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at King-Kennedy Memorial Center, 601 N. Martin Luther King Drive.

Special guests and speakers at this year’s program will be Modesto Councilmember Kristin Olsen and San Jose Councilmember Madison Nguyen. A special and unique program in recognition of Women’s History Month will feature these two outstanding women as well as address such issues as women’s health, career, finances, education and safety.

Children's activities will also be available and there will be prize drawings held throughout the day. The event is free, and women and their families are encouraged to participate.
